Nathan is a beacon of leadership. He has held pivotal leadership roles in esteemed organisations such as Glencore, Ausgrid, NSW Government, and TransGrid, where he spearheaded major projects and contributed significantly to industry transformation.

Nathan has a strong academic background and more than two decades of hands-on experience in project origination, development, structuring and asset management across various sectors, including natural resources, traditional energy and emerging energy.

Drawing from his extensive public and private sector experience, Nathan is committed to fostering long-term relationships and driving sustainable solutions for clients, ensuring each project journey is marked by collaboration, innovation and unwavering support.

Babu Kumar

Babu has over 27 years of experience in large-scale infrastructure projects and program management.

Babu’s career spans consulting and advisory roles, as well as engineering management and operations & maintenance. He has worked with prominent organisations such as TransGrid, Interface Rail Engineering, Arcadis, John Holland, Howden, UGL, PowerServe, and Endeavour Energy. 

Babu boasts a robust technical foundation in engineering and excels at driving transformation and improving organisational efficiency. His expertise is evident through his leadership in executing multi-year strategies and overseeing major energy transition projects, including network connection, distribution & transmission, power generation, and renewable energy. He has been instrumental in establishing key design and engineering capabilities, significantly enhancing project delivery and safety standards.

Babu is highly regarded for his leadership in innovation, standardisation, technical strategy, and operational excellence.

Jason is a seasoned veteran in the electricity transmission and distribution industry, with over 35 years of invaluable experience. His expertise spans transmission and zone substation construction, project management, maintenance, and operations.

Jason held a pivotal role as the Head of the Transmission Service Branch at Essential Energy for over two decades. During his tenure, he played a critical role in delivering large-scale renewable connections across Essential Energy's extensive network, showcasing his dedication to advancing sustainable energy solutions.

Jason's impact extends beyond project delivery; he is a pioneer in developing zone substation maintenance regimes that have garnered global recognition as best practices.

Qualifications: Electrical Trade CoP, Protection Systems Technician Cert, Substation Technician Cert, Industrial Electronics Cert, Workplace Training and Assessment Cert, Transport and Distribution CoP.

Karie James

Karie brings extensive experience working on enterprise scale projects, having more recently spent 6 years working in Africa, where she led the strategy and delivery of major capital works. She is highly experienced in providing strategic leadership across business development, strategic planning, commercial, execution, operations, performance and risk management.

Karie has held pivotal roles in notable organisations such as Sanergy Inc., Greater Bank, and Commonwealth Bank, where she led transformational programs and ensured strategic alignment and successful delivery.

Karie excels in developing actionable strategies for business expansion and transformation, effectively analysing business risks and opportunities to achieve goals. Her expertise in program delivery and project management spans from program definition to successful implementation, leveraging her strong communication skills for effective stakeholder engagement.

Josh Thomas

Josh is a dynamic leader with a wealth of experience spanning over two decades in engineering and asset management. His diverse background includes roles in the Australian Defence Force, Mining, Aerospace, Education, and Utilities sectors.

With a strong academic foundation, including an International MBA from Griffith University, Josh offers a unique blend of strategic insight and technical expertise, having led greenfield project delivery teams across Australia and overseas. Demonstrating his ability to navigate complex challenges and deliver results on a global scale.

Josh's role as the Manager of Asset Management at Essential Energy exemplified his commitment to excellence and innovation. Accountable for the delivery of network and asset strategies, network resilience, and reliability and ISO55001 certification.

Qualifications: International MBA Griffith University, IV Electrical Engineering, Certified Asset Management Assessor (CAMA) WPiAM.

Her meticulous approach ensures seamless project execution, from coordinating logistics and developing documentation to managing transaction processes.

Steve Wilson

Steve Wilson

Steve has over 34 years of experience in the electricity transmission and distribution industry. His journey from an electrical fitter mechanic to a seasoned professional in transmission line and substation design and construction, is testament to his expertise and dedication.

As the leader of Essential Energy's Sub Transmission design team and Capital works delivery for over a decade, Steve played a pivotal role in shaping the landscape of energy infrastructure, delivering over 40 zone substations including 3,000km of 132kV and 66kV transmission lines.

Steve has worked to connect several major renewable infrastructure projects for solar and wind farms across Essential Energy’s network. His commitment to safety and delivery has solidified his reputation as a leader in the industry.

Qualifications: Electrical Trades CoP, Electrical Engineering Dip, Project Management Cert, Contract Management Cert, Contract Writing/Development and Negotiations Cert, Workplace Training and Assessment Cert, Frontline Management Dip.

Ian builds and maintains strong relationships, providing clarity and control in both strategy and execution. He is known for his collaborative leadership style and his success in building capabilities, removing roadblocks to growth, and maximising team performance. 

Ian's expertise in program management in complex, high-value, and high-risk environments has been instrumental in his delivery of multiple hub locations during emergency response situations, ensuring a safe and sustainable restoration of the electricity network across the eastern seaboard of NSW during the 2019/20 bushfires.
